DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The fatal incident that stopped traffic for hours on I-95 Tuesday morning was another apparent suicide. It was the second apparent suicide on a major Palm Beach County road Tuesday. A man jumped from a bridge in Lake Worth early Tuesday and landed on a box truck on the Florida Turnpike. He fell to the ground and was killed.

In the I-95 incident, Florida Highway Patrol tells BocaNewsNow.com that a man attempted to dart across the Interstate. He was struck and killed by a bus.

According to police, “a white Ford bus was traveling north on northbound Interstate 95 (State Road 9), approaching State Road 806 (Atlantic Avenue overpass) upon the outside lane. A 56-year-old man from Sunrise abruptly left his position on the northbound outside shoulder as he entered the northbound travel lanes, the man darted in a westerly direction into the path of the bus.  The bus driver was unable to slow/stop the bus, resulting in a collision with the man.

The front right side of the bus struck the man; subsequently, the man was thrown in a northerly direction, coming to final rest in a supine position in the northbound outside center lane.  The man succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of the traffic crash and was pronounced deceased at the traffic crash scene via Delray Fire Rescue personnel.  This is still an ongoing investigation.“
