BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach real estate agent marks the return of the “Outrageous Agents” section of BocaNewsNow.com — a section dedicated to highlighting realtors and real estate agents who are accused of not following the real estate agent code of conduct. There are lots of ways realtors and real estate agents can be included in the “Outrageous Agents” section, but felony arrests tend to guarantee a slot.

Ian Goldberg of the 16000 block of White Orchid Lane in Delray Beach is accused by the Boca Raton Police Department of driving under the influence, refusing to submit to a DUI test, fleeing police, and resisting arrest. He was arrested Tuesday evening and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. He was locked up for nearly a full day before being released Wednesday evening.

According to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Ian Goldberg was found asleep in a minivan in the area of West Yamato Road and Jog Road around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday. Police and paramedics were called to the scene. Here’s what allegedly happened next, according to police. (We remind our readers we do not edit police reports).

”Boca Raton Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and place multiple tire chalks (correct spelling is “chocks”) under all four tires to hinder the driver’s ability to drive off. After numerous attempts to wake the driver up, Ian rolled his window down. While paramedics were speaking to Ian, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage could be smelt emanating from inside of the vehicle and he had noticeably slurred speech. He advised paramedics that he had no medical complaints and that he was not diabetic.”

”While paramedics were speaking Ian to assess him for any medical needs, Ian attempted to place his vehicle into drive. (The Fire Captain on the scene) reached into the vehicle and attempted to stop Ian, however, Ian slapped his hand away. (Boca Raton Police) attempted to intervene by placing the vehicle into park. Ian then attempted to drive off a second time, putting his van into drive, and pressing on the accelerator. An audible screech from the tires against the tire chalks could be heard. He was ordered numerous times to put his car in park.”

”At this point (two Boca Raton Police Officers) forcefully removed Ian from his vehicle after he refused lawful commands and continued to try and drive off. He was taken to the ground by (two Boca Raton police officers). While trying to place handcuffs onto Ian, he was told multiple times to give us his wrists, however, he continued to tense, pull away, and resist our commands. Ian was stood up and while speaking with him, an overwhelmingly strong odor of an alcoholic beverage could be smelt emanating from his person. Ian was unable to maintain his balance and had extremely slurred speech.”

Ian Goldberg, according to police, refused a field sobriety test and later refused a blood or breath alcohol test, violating Florida’s implied consent law. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. His Real Estate license is effective through September of 2025.
