BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Just days after BocaNewsNow.com reported on a couple facing a lawsuit from Broken Sound Country Club for allegedly owing more than $500,000, another couple is facing a similar suit. Richard and Hazel Matic allegedly owe Broken Sound Club $188,160.52.
Unlike Robert and Lori Bogdanoff who apparently racked up the $500,000 bill over decades, the Matics have only lived in Broken Sound since June of 2018. That’s when they bought their home for $115,000. Its total market value now, according to Palm Beach County, is slightly more than $400,000. The lawsuit suggests that the debt incurred by the Matics includes club fees and the equivalent of HOA dues. Their home is in the 2400 block of NW 66th Drive.
From the lawsuit: ”In connection with the Defendants’ ownership of said prior property, Defendants executed an irrevocable Membership Purchase Agreement with Broken Sound Club in June of 2018. In connection with their acquisition of the Subject Property in 2018, Defendants were issued and assigned Broken Sound Club membership/account (redacted) and have remained (and currently remain) duly responsible for same at all times since. Pursuant to the membership agreement … Defendants are and always have been required to pay monies due and owing for dues, fees, charges, and special assessments as they are charged or otherwise incurred and become due. Defendants have breached their membership obligation with Plaintiff by failing to pay dues that are due and owing.”

The current bill which is included in the lawsuit and posted above, includes a balance forward of $184,598.15, plus new fees for interest, a suspension fee, an operating assessment, a service charge, and more. Broken Sound is represented by Dale Schley, II, Esq of Laing, Weicholz, Schley of Boca Raton. The defendants had not filed a response to the suit as of Monday afternoon, September 16, 2024.

Something smells very fishy here. The HOA management firm or BOD was not on top of this, or somehow linked to these homeowners.
Or maybe they cut a deal with them years before ? In any event, both entities should be replaced 100%.
