PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Wellington woman is dead several days after a crash in unincorporated West Palm Beach. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says Cynthia Gardner, 71, of Fairlane Farms Road in Wellington died on Monday. The crash occurred on Wednesday.
According to PBSO, Gardner was driving northbound in a Ford F350 on Forest Hill Boulevard approaching the intersection of Block Island Road around 2:45 p.m. At the same time, Carlos Bartolo was driving a Lexus IS250 eastbound on Block Island Road and approaching the intersection of Forest HIll Blvd. As the Lexus IS250 entered the northbound lanes, the F350 was “traversing the intersection in the inside lane. This caused the driver side rear dually fender of the F350 to strike the front passenger side of the Lexus.”
”The F350 rotated counterclockwise in a northern direction onto the center median. The F350 came to rest facing north on center median north of the intersection. The F350, post collision, began to side slip, rotating in a counterclockwise motion northbound and into the center median. The F350 struck a tree in the center median with the front passenger side of the F350. The F350 then violently rotated in a counterclockwise rotation back into the northbound lanes of Foresthill Blvd. The F350 came to rest facing south, north of the intersection in the outside northbound lanes.”
Ms. Gardner was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center and pronounced dead on September 16th. Mr. Bartolo did not sustain serious injury. The investigation continues. No charges have been filed. It is unclear from the incident report whether either driver entered the intersection against a traffic light or device.
