DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The reward is now $10,000 in a killing that left a hotel guest dead in Deerfield Beach. The Broward Sheriff’s Office provided BocaNewsNow.com with a crime update on Thursday:

”Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives hope a reward of up to $10,000 will lead to an arrest in the murder of Bobby Abernathy II that occurred in April. Broward Crime Stoppers recently announced an increase in the reward in Abernathy’s case.

At approximately 1:17 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a shooting victim at 1200 S.W. 11th Way in Deerfield Beach. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located an adult male, Abernathy, in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. Paramedics took Abernathy to Broward Health North hospital with life-threatening injuries. Later that day, doctors pronounced Abernathy deceased. 

BSO’s Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units initially responded to investigate. Following Abernathy’s death, BSO’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation.
