BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — One private school in Palm Beach County is bucking the trend of closures for Wednesday and Thursday. American Heritage, with campuses in Delray Beach and Plantation, will hold virtual classes for grades 4-12 on Wednesday. A decision on Thursday will be made on Wednesday.

While American Heritage students continue to learn, seemingly all other schools in the region are closing after the final bell Tuesday. All Palm Beach County public schools, all Broward County public schools, Florida Atlantic University, Pine Crest, and Saint Andrew’s have all announced total closures for Wednesday and Thursday.

Although Hurricane Milton is one of the largest, most powerful storms in modern recorded history, it is not tracking directly into Palm Beach County. Even so, the National Hurricane Center is warning that extreme winds and rain will extend far out from the current cone. That means power and internet could go down for many people, potentially creating a problem for any school choosing to “virtual.”

Check back later Tuesday for additional school information. If you have school information to share, please email news (at) bocanewsnow.com, or use our news tip menu, above. You can always text our tip line at 561-576-6397 (561-576-NEWS).
