BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A water main break just before 6 p.m. is causing major traffic problems in West Boca Raton. Palm Beach County issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com at 5:50 p.m. Friday:
Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) is conducting work on a necessary repair to a water main at the intersection of W. Palmetto Park Rd. and Ponderosa Dr. in Boca Raton. The repair work is taking place in the westbound lanes of W. Palmetto Park Rd. between Ponderosa Dr. and Riverside Dr.
The repair work will begin on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. and will require the closure of both westbound lanes on W. Palmetto Park Rd., requiring westbound motorists to be diverted either north or south on Ponderosa Rd. until the repair is complete. PBCWUD crews will remain onsite during the project.
All necessary devices will be in place to redirect traffic as needed. PBCWUD expects work to be ongoing for this repair until further notice and is urging commuters to plan accordingly.
At this time no residential homes are impacted; five area businesses have been notified and should the need for a boil water notification arise, all affected customers will be notified. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank the community for patience and understanding as we complete the repairs as quickly and safely as possible.
