BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Coral Springs woman is dead following a critical crash in Pompano Beach in September. The Broward Sheriff’s Office provided the following details to BocaNewsNow.com:
“BSO detectives say shortly before 9 p.m. on Sept. 13, deputies responded to a report of a crash with a fire in the 800 block of E. Sample Road in Pompano Beach. A 2006 Honda Element, driven by Cynthia Tassy was traveling westbound on East Sample Road in the right thru lane. At the same time, a 2022 Toyota, driven by Pedro Ocasio-Latorre, was traveling westbound on the same road in the center thru lane ahead of the Honda.
According to detectives, Ocasio-Latorre stated he observed the Honda attempt to go from the right thru lane into the far-left thru lane, when the vehicle appeared to lose control and struck the concrete center median. It then veered back to the right where it struck the Toyota. Tassy’s vehicle then continued northbound across East Sample Road and struck a tree.
Tassy was transported to Broward Health North for her injuries. According to the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim died on Friday, Oct. 11, from injuries sustained in the crash.”
BSO says the investigation continues and is being handled by the traffic homicide unit. Tassy lived in Coral Springs, according to an incident report.
