PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Halloween brawl involving kids and potentially a gun is under investigation Friday by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. No one was injured — or at least, no injured people were found. PBSO issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com:
On October 31, 2024, at 9:45 PM, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the Olympia guard house located at the intersection of Fatio Boulevard and Shearson Boulevard in Wellington. The initial call, made by Olympia security, reported a person with a gun at the clubhouse. However, upon arrival, deputies were informed by several juveniles and security personnel that the situation involved only a verbal altercation.
During the on-scene investigation, deputies conferred with off-duty employment FWC officers who confirmed the incident was verbal and did not involve any weapons. Subsequently, while still at the scene, deputies received an additional report of a physical altercation among a group of juveniles in the area. While searching the crowd, deputies reported hearing gunshots nearby. Although crowds of juveniles were seen fleeing the area, no injuries or victims were found.
Additional deputies were arrived to manage the crowd, search for potential victims, witnesses, and evidence. A witness interviewed at the scene reported observing several juveniles engaged in a fight at the intersection. The witness stated that upon attempting to record the incident with his cellphone, he heard two gunshots but did not see a shooter or a firearm.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with further information or video is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
