Hans Wittig Held On More Than $100,000 Bond…

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton resident Hans Wittig remains locked up in the Palm Beach County Jail Wednesday, two days after he was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Wittig, of the 22000 block of Lemon Tree Lane in Boca Raton, is facing burglary, criminal mischief, larceny, assault, aggravated stalking, and crimes against elderly charges. He’s being held on more than $100,000 bond.
BocaNewsNow.com obtained Wittig’s arrest report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Here are key parts about the alleged crimes committed at Wittig’s uncle’s home in Lake Worth:
“Inside the main house, I observed further evidence of unlawful entry and vandalism. Two security cameras that (the alleged victim) indicated had been previously functional were tampered with. One camera, originally positioned on the living room mantle, was missing, while the second camera, previously placed on the kitchen counter, was found damaged on the floor. A third camera, positioned near the air conditioning unit in the main living room, was still operational and had recorded portions of the incident. The alleged victim provided footage from this operational camera for review. The footage showed two individuals inside the residence, one of whom (the alleged victim) identified as his nephew, Hans Wittig. I recognized Hans from prior civil process calls in the area.
The second individual remains unidentified. In the footage, Hans is seen holding a broken security camera and a cordless drill while tampering with the air conditioning unit, where the operational camera was located. Hans is later observed moving toward the kitchen area and interacting with the second camera, which was subsequently found damaged on the floor. Upon closer inspection of the damaged kitchen camera, it was discovered that the SD memory card had been removed, indicating theft. The footage corroborates (the alleged victim’s) report of forced entry, vandalism, and theft and shows Hans handling the cameras with apparent intent to disable or remove them.
The actions of Hans Wittig align with the elements of burglary as defined in Florida law. Hans entered the dwelling without permission or authorization, as confirmed by (the alleged victim), the property owner. His actions, including damaging property and stealing the SD memory card, demonstrate an intent to commit an offense inside the dwelling. Further, the physical damage to the door and the broken cameras are consistent with a forced and unauthorized entry into the property. On 12/9/24 at 1920, Hans Wittig was located in public on S. Lakeside Dr. and was arrested.
Hans was transported to Palm Beach County Jail for processing. Based on the facts and evidence, including witness statements, physical observations, and security footage, there is probable cause to believe Hans Wittig committed the offense of burglary by unlawfully entering a dwelling with the intent to commit criminal mischief and theft inside.”
