BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County Clerk of Court’s computer system is back up and running, with all services functional again. The system crashed last week, causing major problems for anyone trying to access court records. The outage affected attorneys, jury selection, various court proceedings, the media and the public. The system came fully back online on Sunday.

The Clerk of Courts communications team issued this statement: “All Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller systems are operating as usual, following an outage caused by a catastrophic hardware failure on Palm Beach County’s network. The outage affected multiple Palm Beach County agencies, including the Clerk’s office.

Since the County’s systems went down late Wednesday evening, the Clerk’s office team focused on quickly restoring access to Courts and Official Records systems so customers could both submit documents and view documents online.

The Clerk’s I.T. team worked closely with Palm Beach County throughout the weekend to restore our systems, while the Clerk’s Courts and Official Records teams worked throughout the weekend to ensure electronically filed court documents and official records were properly appearing in our systems. They also worked to clear any backlogs created by the multiple-day outage.

Customers who encounter an issue using Clerk applications including eCaseView or Official Records search are encouraged to use the Clerk’s office “Contact Us” page online to route their question or issue to the appropriate department.”

As we’ve reported, the outage highlights the success that Clerk Joseph Abruzzo and Palm Beach County have had in creating a computer system that offers access to pretty much everything that the court system does. When it goes down — which is rare — the absence of access is felt. The Clerk’s office offered updates throughout the outage.
