Police are investigating a burglary in The Bridges in West Delray Beach/West Boca Raton.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A woman in the gated community of “The Bridges” — one of the upscale communities on Lyons Road between Clint Moore and Atlantic — found a man inside her car parked in her garage. The man, identified as a black male with medium build, fled into a waiting sedan.

The incident, on December 17th, is being investigated by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as a “Burglary In Process.” BocaNewsNow.com has learned that nothing was stolen. The car was not “rummaged through,” according to investigators. The license plate of the sedan was documented by security staffers in “The Bridges” when the vehicle entered the community. It was also captured by a neighbor’s “Ring” camera. It’s unclear if that plate yielded any workable leads for police.

“The vehicle was inside the garage at the time of the burglary,” according to information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. “The vehicle was left unlocked.” It was unclear how long the garage door was open at the woman’s home or the type of vehicle involved. The home is located on Gateway Bridge Drive.

The Bridges is located on Lyons Road, north of Clint Moore Road.

Communities in the area have been targeted by professional criminals executing a huge number of car thefts and burglaries over the past several years. At least 20 vehicles were stolen and multiple homes were burglarized. In at least one incident, thieves circumvented an active alarm system. Although the criminal activity had died down over the past year or so, BocaNewsNow.com reported just last week on an incident where two suspects — identified as black males — circumvented security in “The Oaks,” then waded through a canal and climbed a wall to enter Boca Bridges, which is just to the north of The Oaks. The men were captured on video hiding in a homeowner’s swimming pool before evading police and escaping. Watch that video here.
