A man pushing a wheelchair was struck and killed in West Boynton Beach early Saturday morning.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man pushing an empty wheelchair was struck and killed early Saturday morning as he walked in the 6000 block of Old Congress Avenue in unincorporated Boynton Beach. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is now on the lookout for a dark blue or black Honda that may have damage to the front. Here’s the update from PBSO. The victim is identified as Robert Elsmore, 60, of Jupiter.

“Pedestrian One (Robert Elsmore) was walking southbound on Old Congress Ave in the area of the 6000 block. Pedestrian One was pushing a wheelchair and was near the center line of the roadway. Vehicle One was traveling southbound on Old Congress Ave approaching Pedestrian One.

The driver’s side front corner of Vehicle One impacted the back of Pedestrian One launching Pedestrian One and the wheelchair in a southeasterly direction. Vehicle One fled the scene southbound on Old Congress Ave. Pedestrian One was pronounced deceased at the scene. Based on vehicle parts found at the scene, Vehicle One is an unknown year Honda that is dark blue or black in color. Next of Kin has been notified.”
