BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man on probation for aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a firearm as a minor was arrested by police at Florida Atlantic University after a chase. William Morey, 20, was arrested Friday. BocaNewsNow.com obtained Morey’s arrest report filed by the Florida Atlantic University Police Department:

“On December 19, 2024 at approximately 0137 hours, Officer Coulson (#576) observed two vehicles in parking lot 5A, located west of FAU blvd. One vehicle blue in color was observed doing donuts in the parking lot. A grey vehicle was observed parked close to the blue vehicle. Ofc Coulson and I activated our emergency lights and siren and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on both vehicles. The blue vehicle fled south through an adjoining parking lot and the grey vehicle fled north into a dead-end parking area. The grey vehicle came to rest in the northeast corner of 901 NW 35th ST on the Boca Raton Campus of Florida Atlantic. The driver was observed getting out and running east on foot through adjoining parking areas.

Ofc Coulson stayed with the vehicle and I chased a white male wearing what appeared to be dark clothing on foot through the parking lot. I lost visual of the male and returned back to the grey vehicle, where Ofc Coulson was standing by with a passenger. The passenger advised me that the driver was white male, approximately 5’10”, with blonde hair, wearing a red shirt. The passenger also stated his name was Will. I continued my search to the east of FAU Boulevard in the parking lot of 3998 FAU Blvd. As I searched the east side of the business I came in contact with a white male matching the passengers description standing in the middle of the parking area. The male was later identified as William Gabriel Morey DOB 09/02/2004.

I instructed Morey to put his hands up and turn around, to which Morey complied. Morey was placed in my department-issued handcuffs. The handcuffs were double-locked and checked for proper fit. Morey stated he was sorry for running and that he was on probation. Morey was read his Miranda rights and acknowledged understanding. Morey chose to answer questions. Morey stated that he was the driver of the grey car which belonged to his friend David. Morey stated they were watching the unknown blue car do donuts in the parking lot. Morey said that he ran because he was on probation and did not want to go back to jail. Due to the above events I find probable cause to charge Morey with the following: Violation of F. S. S 843.02 (Resisting without violence).”

Morey was booked into jail around 4:30 a.m. on December 19th. He was released on his own recognizance just before 8 p.m. on December 20th. A court date is pending.
