BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Registrations for electric vehicle continue to surge in South Florida, with a 30 percent jump year-to-year in Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties, according to FPL. FPL just announced new high speed chargers in Palm Beach County in an effort to meet demand.
Among the new chargers: 6001 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, FL, and 520 Hibiscus St., West Palm Beach, FL 33401. These are in addition to FPL Evolution high speed chargers at 7757 West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach (behind Panera), 1470 SW 8th St Boynton Beach (Dunkin Donuts); 138 Harbors Way in Boynton Beach; The Delray Beach Tennis Center at 201 W Atlantic Avenue, rest stops on the Florida Turnpike, and many more. Download the FPL Evolution app for a full list and to create an account.
“As electric vehicle registrations continue to surge across Florida, FPL is committed to providing comprehensive charging solutions that support EV adoption and create a seamless experience for drivers,” says Crystal Stiles, executive director of development for distributed technologies & mobility for FPL. “Our FPL EVolution® public charging network is a valuable boost for Florida’s EV owners who need access to fast, reliable, and convenient charging options.”
Palm Beach County specifically saw the number of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations jump from 23,401 in 2023 to 30,039 in April of 2024. Statewide, there are roughly 300,000 EVs registered.
FPL also offers a one-price home charging program if you are willing to enter into a long term agreement with FPL which owns and maintains the equipment. Learn more about that program and all of the FPL Evolution offerings here. We note that while a Tesla is shown in the image above, the FPL chargers are for all electric vehicles.

FPL is doing nothing for condo owners that want to install an at home charger for the electric vehicle. Why are we left out? Do they consider condo owners to be second class citizens that are not worthy of the benefits awarded to people that have garages? There are many all weather charging units available that could work in conjunction with their program. They could at least offer us the same ev charging subscription rates for electricity as those that qualify for their evolution program and let us pay for, install, and maintain our own equipment.
It’s not up to FPL. If you want a charger and if your condo association permits it, put one in.
