BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man believed to be in his 20s or early 30s sustained a gunshot wound Tuesday evening in the City of Boca Raton. The man either took himself — or was taken by non-medical personnel — to Boca Raton Regional Hospital where emergency room staffers determined the wound wasn’t something they could handle. ER workers had the victim transported by Boca Raton Fire Rescue to Delray Medical Center, the region’s trauma hospital.

The wound is described by sources familiar with the emergency response as being non-life threatening. It was apparently a gunshot to the hand or wrist area. It was unknown whether this was accidental, self-inflicted, or some sort of crime. There are no arrests in Boca Raton or nearby jurisdictions early Christmas relating to anything involving a gun.

There has been no official statement from Boca Raton Police as of 6 a.m. Wednesday regarding the incident. It is unknown if a search is underway for a suspect. The Boca Raton Police Department doesn’t tend to release contextual information in anything that resembles “real time” — if at all.
