BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Two people are dead following a three car crash early on New Year’s Day. The crash, in the 500 block of South Federal Highway in Pompano Beach, injured Paul Edward Emilcar of Palm Beach County, and John Blandin of Broward County. The Broward Sheriff’s Office, which has not provided the names of the deceased, did provide this narrative to BocaNewsNow.com. We note Alexander Lalos of Palm Beach County is also identified as a driver involved in the crash, but investigators did not say which vehicle he was operating:

“Shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, Broward County Regional Communications received a call of a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Southeast Fifth Court and South Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. According to investigators, the preliminary investigation revealed a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling southbound on South Federal Highway, approaching Southeast Fifth Court, when a 2019 Hyundai Sante Fe was traveling northbound on South Federal Highway also approaching Southeast Fifth Court.

Once the Santa Fe reached the intersection, the driver proceeded to make a left turn to go west on Southeast Fifth Court. That’s when the Corvette struck the rear passenger side corner of the Santa Fe which was projected southwest. A passenger in the Santa Fe was ejected from the vehicle. The Santa Fe then struck a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder which was stopped on Southeast Fifth Court waiting to make a right turn onto South Federal Highway.

After the Corvette struck the Santa Fe, the Corvette eventually lost control and struck a utility pole. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported a passenger from the Corvette, a passenger from the Santa Fe and the driver of the Pathfinder to Broward Health North. Both passengers were pronounced deceased a short time later. According to detectives, both deceased passengers were in the front passenger seat unrestrained. The investigation continues.”
