Police in Boynton Beach charged a man with attempted murder following a shooting Monday night.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man is now in custody following Monday night’s shooting in Boynton Beach, first reported by BocaNewsNow.com. The Boynton Beach Police Department just updated us on an arrest with this statement:

“Boynton Beach Police Department detectives arrested a Boynton Beach man Monday night in connection with a shooting that injured 36-year-old Kalica Bertrand. Xantus Jerry Ridore, 33, of Boynton Beach was charged with attempted second-degree murder and discharging a firearm in public.

The shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m. Monday near the 600 block of NE 2nd St. Upon arrival, BBPD officers encountered Ridore who said he had shot a black male who was riding his bike up and down the street who he believed was in possession of a firearm. While on a separate call, BBPD officers were flagged down near 510 NE 20th Ave. to assist a black male, later identified as Bertrand, who had been shot.

BBPD detectives found the two men had recently had a physical altercation following which Bertrand was hospitalized. Through the investigation BBPD detective determined Bertrand was riding his bike unarmed at the time the shooting occurred. Bertrand was transported to Delray Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. Ridore is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.”
