All Those Rude People From Other Parts Of The Country Are Here, Bringing Their Rudeness With Them…

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If it’s Sunday, it’s Boca Rudeton day. We have an extremely long list today so let’s get right into it — starting with the first entrant for our new “phone” category. This is dedicated to people who are so clueless, so rude, that they think it’s acceptable to have speakerphone conversations in public.
As we mentioned last week, there’s no expectation of privacy if you’re blasting a phone call for everyone to hear, so feel free to take photos or video and send it our way. Clearly whoever is babbling on their speakerphone wants everyone to know what’s being said. That’s why we start outside the “Prezzo” shopping center at 5560 North Military Trail. It’s where this woman enjoyed her conversation in a public setting. While we’re unsure what she was talking about, we do know it was so important that she needed to blast her speakerphone for all to hear.

We move now to Trader Joe’s in East Boca Raton where our tipster ponders why this relatively cute dog is with this woman in the supermarket. If we said it once, we’ve said significantly more than once: dogs aren’t allowed in supermarkets unless the dog is a legitimate service animal. And it’s a crime to lie about an animal being a legit service animal. Maybe this dog is. Maybe it isn’t. Our tipster wonders. So do we.

What about this dog at Whole Foods in Delray Beach? Our tipster here asked why this woman needs to go shopping for bread with a dog. We wonder the same thing, and remind her that Whole Foods — like so many other merchants in 2025 — delivers! You don’t need to bring your pooch where it doesn’t belong. The food can come straight to you, and you don’t have to bother other people with your animal.

The next one is somewhat ironic. The restaurant is called OSHA. OSHA is also the federal agency charged with making sure work places are safe. What do you think OSHA would say about OSHA permitting a dog in a place where food is being served? We wonder if maybe any inspector wants to visit OSHA at 2201 North Federal Highway after seeing this photo.

At Modern Rose restaurant (142 SE 6th Avenue) in Delray Beach, this woman was seen enjoying food with friends and her dog. The friends are fine. The dogs is not. We don’t know why the restaurant didn’t do anything about this, or if workers there sanitized the seat after the dog left.

We also wonder about this woman at Trattoria Nonna at 6006 SW 18th Street in Boca Raton. It seems unlikely that a highly trained service animal is going to be sitting on someone’s lap and playing “handsies” at the table. We’re just sayin. Maybe it’s a fully trained highly skilled service animal that really provides a function. Or, maybe this woman is violating codes that say you can’t have a dog in a restaurant.

And we’ll wrap this week with a Toyota in the fire lane at the Michael’s shopping center at Glades Road and Lyons Road in West Boca Raton. It speaks for itself. It’s a car. it’s a fire lane. It’s a car in the fire lane. That’s not allowed. If you happen to see the driver of this car with Florida tag Y69VZW, you may want to mention that illegal is illegal, whether or not you have a handicapped placard dangling from your mirror.

So who is our winner this week? It’s a tough one, but we are going with the woman on the cell phone. It’s just rude to have a speakerphone conversation in public. No one wants to hear it. No one wants to see it. But everyone wants to know why you haven’t connected your phone to AirPods, generic earphones, or even hearing aids if you have them. We don’t really give prizes, but if we did, we would award her a lovely blutooth ear dongle left over from 2008, and a reminder that whether in a shopping center, an airport, strip mall, anywhere: it’s not okay to have a speakerphone conversation. Try to be classy! Just try!
We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons above. I have complained to many managers of restaurants and Grocery stores, but they almost all say they just don’t want a confrontation so they don’t do anything… and if you approach the offenders they are rude and tell you they’ll do whatever they want….establishments have to do something it’s totally out of hand!!!!
Totally agree
White collar crime is far worse than poverty crime. The rudeness is the tip of the iceberg
Dogs in restaurants, grocery stores and retail stores is one of my biggest peeves. I have been told that the management cannot say anything, but I frequently do. I figure that if they get upset, so be it. Why should we be at their mercy and they not get irritated? FYI – service dogs are trained to stay at the person’s side – they do not sniff round, wander around or interact with people.
These folks are warped!!!
The management of these establishments need to have the gumption to tell the offenders they are in violation of the law and need to leave the premises. If hey don’t comply they should call the police.
The law is the law. It applies to everyone.
I was in Publix and told a woman who had her dog in the cart that she was not allowed I with the dog . She called me a bitch and told me to mind my own business .
Living here you have to forgive these people they think the world revolves around them.
Next time, post her picture and let her know to look for it.
A lot of people commenting that they think other people and businesses should fight your battles for you. It’s your petpeeve about the dogs, not the businesses. They have bigger issues than listen to you complain and would rather let 10 people get away vs. doing the wrong thing to 1 person who actually needs the dog. Kinda like how they’re suppose to use judgement to convict people, right?? Don’t punish the innocent. We’d rather let 1 guilty go than punish 1 person unjustly. Think they’re lying about the animal? Well write an article and blast them 😂
The Businesses are also violating the law by failing to ask the person to remove their dog from the premises.
Sounds like you enjoy the idea of dog hair in your food and the “person who actually needs the dog” excuse whine is getting old since 99.9% of the claimed support dogs are just spoiled pets.
It is clear that the dogs in supermarkets and restaurants is out of control. No one wants to confront these people because you don’t know if they will do something crazy like pull a gun. It’d east to just ignore the problem. You have a choice to just don’t go these and shop, or eat at these restaurants. I vote for the woman on the phone. No one likes to hear someones conversations.
Well could have sent pictures taken at the same place to tie the winner – Green Cay – a boardwalk into the wetlands that is a refuge for animals and a place that people go to for quiet in natural settings, not a Disney theme park. One woman brought a dog on a leash and when I confronted her she thought carrying it was OK – when she went for “proof” I told her emotional support dogs were not allowed! If she cannot be in a natural without her dog, she should go to a dog park. And more than one person thought talking on her and his cell phones used as a speakerphone while on the traiI was ok- there is a SIGN noting that using cell phone other than in a limited manner is not allowed! Time to issue tickets to violators. And not a theme park or zoo – not a place to bring crying infants either.
This is so funny. I wish I had known this site existed before I retired 2 years ago. I could have provided pictures daily as I worked in retail in Boca for 10+ years. These ‘snowbirds’ are so insecure they can’t go anywhere without their dog. And you’ll notice most of the time they are by themselves because they have no friends, except the dog. Enough said.
Bocarudtonions also are nasty customers and what food for free. Start asking managers at restaurants and/or grocery stores how much free food they have to give away. This is usually after said customer consumes almost all of the item and says it wasn’t good. They are also notorious for saying they didn’t get what they ordered however, they don’t have any proof. If you don’t give them money back, they cause a huge scene.
This is a triple play Rudeton. Awesome way to start the year! Parking, dogs, cel phones. The winner should be the woman with the 25lb dog at Delray Whole foods Delray. With her green poop bag, she reminds us exactly what all the dogs owners have in common. Touching fecal matter and then touching our salt shakers and menus. It is on any surface they touch. They have no substantial relationships besides that with their captive pet. They bring them out so that people talk to them generally about their pet. Otherwise, no messages on the “answering machine”…email…vmail.
Agree. This won’t stop until fines are issued to both the store/restaurant and those in violation of the law.
It’s sad how many people are so “unwell” in Boca that they cannot be in public without their hypo allergenic “service dogs”.
So pathetic that all these people are critical of dogs. Were the dogs leashed? Were they bothering you? Another thing that is “rude”: being judgmental and criticizing others for things that do not affect you. In other words: mind your own business.
Who’s critical of dogs? I am critical of the entitled morons who break the law by bringing their animals into stores that prohibit dogs. I have a dog and would never bring it to a supermarket or indoor restaurant. Of course, the fact that most of the dogs in the photos are ugly part rats/part dogs cannot be overlooked.
