
BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The victims of Sunday morning’s mass shooting in Boynton Beach have been identified by police. One person was killed and five injured when a gun person opened fire in the area of the 500 block of NE 2nd Street. That person remains on the loose. One victim, identified as Davon Wood, 31, of Fort Lauderdale, was killed.
The other victims are identified as: James Lauren, 3/15/1988, of Lake Worth. He is in stable condition in an area hospital. Josue Jean, 9/25/1990, of Boynton Beach. He remains in stable condition in an area hospital. Keith Clemons, 8/24/1986, of Port St. Lucie. He was released form an area hospital. Derrick Dorsonne, 1/19/2001 of Delray Beach. He was released from an area hospital. And Jephte Matilda, 8/10/1992. He was also released form an area hospital.
This is the official statement issued by Boynton Beach Police in the hours immediately following the shooting: “Boynton Beach Police Department dispatchers received multiple reports of a shooting around 1:40 a.m. near the 500 Block of NE 2nd Street. BBPD officers responded to the scene and found five individuals with gunshot wounds. Boynton Beach Fire Rescue transported the victims to local hospitals. A sixth victim, who self-transported himself to an emergency center, was later located.
One victim, identified as 31-year-old Davon Wood of Fort Lauderdale, later died from injuries sustained in the shooting. Four of the victims had non-life-threatening injuries. One victim remains in critical condition. The initial investigation shows the shooting occurred after two individuals got into an altercation at a gathering.
