While Poppies in Delray Beach was not ordered to close, it will be the subject of an unannounced follow-up inspection.

I just ate there with three friends on Sunday the 2nd of February 2025. I ordered a roast beef sandwich on Rye and French Fries. I was the only person to order Roast Beef and one other did get fries. 7 or so hours later I get very ill with food poisoning. I was in the bathroom sick as a dog for 10 hours. Needless to say this has wiped me out and I am terribly week from it 3 days later. at 72 1/2 years of age this can be serious to put yourself in that situation. As hard as Wanted to hydrate I could not possibly. I could not even make to to the kitchen to grab water even if I had the energy to do so. I urge the Health Department to once again go out and closely inspect this place. I guess and it is only a guess is that the roast beef was not properly stored and may have been out for too many hours or even days old without throwing out three day old meat. I will never go back, neither will any of my fiends and our entire community knows what happened and I am talking about many hundreds of people who live near or in Delray Beach know of my experience. As far as knowing it was the Roast Beef. I had no breakfast and I was so full from lunch I had toast and jelly with team for dinner. So I know it was the Roast Beef.
