Claim: Owner Hasn’t Paid Dues, Fees Since 2023 But Still Used Delray Beach Club…

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Polo Club Property Owners Association is suing a homeowner in the community who allegedly owes more than $50,000 in unpaid fees, assessments, and club dues. The lawsuit against Kenneth and Hara Bloom was just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. It seeks a lien of foreclosure on their home on Knightsbridge Lane in Delray Beach.
According to the complaint obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the Blooms owe $50,799.78 as of the time of the filing. That includes unpaid “social dues” at $14,444, “golf dues” at $10,247, a “tennis capital assessment” at $1,850, “house charges” at $4,391, finance charges and legal fees. Here is a key section from the lawsuit against the Blooms:
“… Defendants entered into a contractual relationship with Plaintiff Polo Club whereby Defendants agreed to abide by Plaintiff Polo Club’s Membership Documents, including fulfillment of the obligations to pay dues, assessments and other charges imposed by Plaintiff Polo Club. Copies of Defendants’ Tennis Membership Certificate, Golf Membership Certificate and Sale of Membership Equity are attached … From the time Defendants were approved as Plaintiff Polo Club Members in November of 2019 up to and including September of 2023, Defendants enjoyed the benefits of Plaintiff Polo Club Membership and paid Plaintiff Polo Club for the Defendants’ Plaintiff Polo Club Membership and the use of Plaintiff Polo Club’s facilities and services Plaintiff Polo Club has levied assessments for maintenance and other Declaration authorized charges against Defendants’ real property. Since October of 2023, Defendants have failed to pay in full assessments due to Plaintiff Polo Club as required by the Declaration.”
We are publishing the key elements of the lawsuit, below. Polo Club of Boca Raton is represented by Attorney Larry Corman of Greenspoon Marder. No representation is listed as of early Monday for the Blooms. The home in question, according to the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser, has a total market value of just under $900,000 and was purchased in November of 2019 for $342,500.

It is important to consider monthly and annual fees when purchasing a home. Things can change in a person’s life; making it difficult to pay high fees. Divorce, change in income. Same with taxes when making a move. If you have lived somewhere for a long time, in Palm Beach County, it is best to stay put. You may pay only $2,000. in taxes. But the person who buys your home, may pay $12,000. or more. Retired persons too, can find themselves with a sick spouse, who needs care in a senior living facility. We moved our parents to a nice facility near Mount Dora. But the cost was $10,000. a month. If you don’t have that much income per month, you have a problem. There are many homes in East Boca, who have no fees. There are golf course memberships that can be paid for separately.
