DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — For the second time in days, the 55th time since 2023, the 35th time since 2024 and the fifth time this year, a resident of the Kings Point senior living community in Delray Beach has been arrested and jailed. This time, it’s someone far younger than the traditional Kings Point resident. It’s 22-year-old Joseph Ljuba. He’s charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
According to the arrest report obtained Saturday by BocaNewsNow.com, Ljuba was taken into custody by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at the Home Depot at 15050 Jog Road in Delray Beach. That’s where the victim said Ljuba — a relative — had been arguing with him while they drove from Kings Point to the store. The topic: Ljuba wanted the family member to pay for his trip to New York. But the family member — the alleged victim — said no.
“The victim stated that he attempted to exit the vehicle, but Ljuba grabbed him, preventing him from leaving. The victim said he eventually was able to exit and entered Home Depot, but Ljuba followed and continued arguing. The victim stated that when he attempted to call 911, Ljuba grabbed his arms and then took the phone from his hands, preventing him from making the call. The victim requested medical attention, and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded.”
The Deputy, after speaking with an alleged witness, spoke with Joseph Ljuba. “I then made contact with Ljuba,” wrote the Deputy. “I advised him of his Miranda rights, and he confirmed that he understood them. When I asked Ljuba what happened between him and the family member, Ljuba stated that while inside the vehicle, the family member attempted to jump out, and he grabbed him to prevent him from doing so. Regarding the phone, Ljuba denied taking it from the family member, claiming it was a big misunderstanding.”
Based on statements from the victim, Ljuba, and the witness, I determined that probable cause exists to arrest Ljuba for battery on a victim over 65 years of age and witness tampering. Ljuba was taken into custody and transported to District 4 substation to complete his arrest paperwork. Upon completion of his arrest paperwork, he was transported to central jail for booking.”
Joseph Ljuba remains held on $3,000 bond as of Saturday afternoon. A court date is pending. If he is released, a judge has ordered that he stay away from the family member. Ljuba lists the Flanders section of Kings Point Delray Beach as his home address. Ljuba is the latest addition to the growing list of accused criminal residents in Kings Point Delray Beach. Among them: residents charged with sexual assault, drug crimes, weapons crimes, domestic assault crimes, DUI, downloading illegal images of children, and more. Unofficial records kept by BocaNewsNow.com show that more residents of Kings Point Delray Beach are arrested than residents of any other south Palm Beach County senior living community.
