BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman allegedly driving without lights at night is facing a DUI charge following her arrest by the Boca Raton Police Department. Ellie MacCallum of NW 20th Street in Boca was taken into custody early Valentine’s Day morning. She was released on $1000 bond just before 7 p.m.
While the arrest report continues to be processed Saturday morning, citations reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com indicate that a Boca Raton police officer witnessed MacCallum driving a 2021 blue Mazda SUV in the 1200 block of West Palmetto Park Road around 3:45 a.m. on Friday. The officer initiated a vehicle stop. MacCallum complied.
However, when the officer suspected that Ellie MacCallum was under the influence of something and requested a field sobriety and/or a breath test, MacCallum refused to participate. Under Florida statute, that led to an immediate suspension of her driver’s license. It will remain suspended for a year unless the arrest is ultimately kicked by a judge. Under “implied consent” in Florida, the first refusal of a breath/blood test during a DUI traffic stop automatically leads to license suspension.

MacCallum will be arraigned on March 25th at 8:30 a.m. Her social media profile suggests that she is a student at an area university.
