BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An early morning fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike has closed southbound lanes just south of the Palm Beach County line. The closure continues as of 6:15 a.m., according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The crash, first reported around 2:15 a.m., is in the area of exit 65. That’s Coconut Creek. Backups start well before the crash scene, with warnings posted to the FDOT digital signs as far back as Glades Road in Boca Raton. While the scene appears to be clearing — or in the clearing stages — as of 6:15, expect delays to continue for a while.

Your best bet if heading southbound: exit at Glades Road or Palmetto Park Road and move east to Powerline. Take Powerline south until you can rejoin the Turnpike. Mapping apps early Tuesday suggest that Atlantic Boulevard should be a workable re-entry point.
We have no further details early Tuesday on the fatal crash itself. We’ll publish an update once we learn more from Florida Highway Patrol which continues to investigate the incident.
