BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The letter you see above is a scam that is targeting drivers in South Florida. If you receive a letter via text or email that looks like the one above, don’t respond. It is the latest attempt by scammers to get your credit card or other financial information.
As we’ve reported time and time again over the past several years, Florida’s toll system — and SunPass — will not send you emails with attachments that are telling you to pay. Any communication from SunPass — or most tolling agencies across the country — will require you to login to a site where you are already registered. Alternatively, you may receive an official letter in the mail. You will never receive a text with a PDF.
If you believe you have fallen victim to this scam — or others — you are encouraged to file a police report. If you live in unincorporated Palm Beach County, you can file the report online through this link. If you live in the City of Boca Raton, the City of Boynton Beach, or the City of Delray Beach, contact your individual police department through the non-emergency number listed on the department’s website.
We also encourage you to check your credit card and bank statements if you have responded to a letter like the one above. If you see anything that looks suspicious, call your bank or credit card company to discuss your options.
