The Boynton Beach Police Department made the announcement Thursday. No charges have been filed. According to police, Davon Wood of Fort Lauderdale was shot and killed, but was later determined to be the primary aggressor in the incident. The shooter has not been publicly identified.

BBPD issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com: “The initial investigation shows that 31-year-old Davon Wood of Fort Lauderdale appears to have been the primary aggressor. With the information, evidence and witness testimonials that BBPD detectives have gathered throughout the investigation, this case meets the criteria of Florida Stand Your Ground Law. However, the investigation is still active and detectives continue to encourage anyone with information to contact BBPD at 561-732-8116.”

This is the original statement issued on January 21st: “Boynton Beach Police Department dispatchers received multiple reports of a shooting around 1:40 a.m. near the 500 Block of NE 2nd Street. BBPD officers responded to the scene and found five individuals with gunshot wounds. Boynton Beach Fire Rescue transported the victims to local hospitals.

A sixth victim, who self-transported himself to an emergency center, was later located. One victim, identified as 31-year-old Davon Wood of Fort Lauderdale, later died from injuries sustained in the shooting. Four of the victims had non-life-threatening injuries. One victim remains in critical condition. The initial investigation shows the shooting occurred after two individuals got into an altercation at a gathering. BBPD detectives believe this is an isolated incident. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Boynton Beach Police Department at 561-732-8116.”
