Legal Action Possible Against UPS Store Franchise Company For Permitting Closure Of Store, Violating Contracts.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Allegations of fraud continue to be received by BocaNewsNow.com regarding the overnight closure of the UPS Store at 9858 Clint Moore Road in Boca Raton. As we reported, the store — in service for more than a decade — closed in the middle of the night a week ago, leaving scores of businesses without their legal business address or unfettered access to mail.
After a UPS Store spokesperson took several days to craft a response, the company — which oversees UPS Store franchises nationwide — issued this statement:
“We are aware that this The UPS Store location in the Boca Raton area has closed. As a franchised location, the store lease was between the former franchisee and the property manager. We apologize for any inconvenience to customers of this store location and understand the disruption this franchise location closure may have had on the mailbox holders. Customers expecting mail or packages may inquire with the original senders and the nearest USPS office for any mail that may be held during the closure. Mailbox customers may choose to work directly with the below The UPS Store locations in the Boca Raton area regarding transfer of their mailbox:
- The UPS Store #6752, 7495 W Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33446, (561) 501-4664
- The UPS Store #3227, 14545 J Military Tr, Delray Beach, FL 33484, (561) 498-7115”
What the company refused to answer, however, is how customers who entered into long-term contracts for the company’s business mailbox service would be compensated for mandatory State of Florida fees for changing an address, changing their “registered agent,” or general breach of contract on behalf of the UPS Store. Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that the local franchise owner — identified by the State of Florida as Jinit Patel — refused to pay money owed for the store’s lease at the Reserve shopping center. The property management company, Woodbright Development, forced the store’s closure.

Legal action may be pending against the UPS Store franchise company which is supposed to be responsible for business continuity, operations, and ensuring that its name is only used by franchisees who are financially solvent.
