BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Boca Raton campus of FAU is set to test its alert system on Wednesday. The test, originally set for last Friday, apparently did not take place due to the plane crash near the FAU campus. Florida Atlantic University issued this advisory Tuesday to BocaNewsNow.com:
>> Florida Atlantic University will test its Emergency Alert System on Wednesday, April 16. The FAU Alert System is designed to play a key role in keeping students, faculty, staff and campus visitors safe during emergency situations. The test will take place at approximately 2 p.m., during which outdoor warning sirens at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, as well as at the John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter and at FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, will be activated with a loud siren sound.
A spoken message may also be heard across the campuses, as well as in nearby neighborhoods and business areas. Additionally, FAU’s university-wide email, telephone alert, emergency hotline, web alert, social media, digital signage and text messaging will be tested – though only select individuals will receive the phone, email and text message. <<
