Stephen Salansky of Oakmont Drive in Lake Worth was pronounced dead just minutes after he was struck by a Kia. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Deosaran Nanan, 32, of the 6100 block of Forest Hill Boulevard in West Palm Beach was driving a 2023 Kia Carnival in the area of Forest HIll and Esselman Trail West around 10:21 a.m.
”The Kia,” said police in a statement to BocaNewsNow.com, “was traveling east on Forest Hill Boulevard, in the inside lane, west of Eshleman Trial. Stephen Salansky on a bicycle was preparing to cross Forest Hill Boulevard, in a marked crosswalk, from north to south. The Kia driver suffered a medical episode and lost control of the vehicle. The Kia crossed over the median and traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes of Forest Hill Boulevard.
The right front of the Kia struck the right side of Salansky, propelling Salansky into the air. The Kia then struck a pedestrian crossing signal and sideswiped a concrete pole before finally coming to a controlled stop in the grassy area.”
Nanan was transported to Wellington Regional Medical Center for treatment. Paramedics pronounced Salansky dead on the scene. No charges have been filed.
