Barbara Reimer is NOT charged with any crime, but parents are calling for her removal from Whispering Pines Elementary School in West Boca Raton after her husband, a teacher, was charged with molesting children. She allegedly permitted him to substitute teach in the school after the claims were made. (BocaNewsNow.com file/2019).

UPDATE 2:45 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025: After waiting several days to respond, The Palm Beach County School District now says that Norman Riemer was not substituting at Whispering Pines Elementary, the school run by his wife — Principal Barbara Riemer — after molestation allegations were made against him. This is contrary to information provided by sources speaking with BocaNewsNow.com. We note that despite our FOIA requests, the school district has not provided documentation or emails requested by BocaNewsNow.com relating to Norman Riemer’s whereabouts, or communication, in the weeks prior to his arrest.

UPDATE at 8:58 p.m. — Barbara Riemer has announced a leave of absence from the Palm Beach County School District through the rest of the school year. The announcement was made following our reporting, below. In an email to parents, she thanked parents for supporting Whispering Pines Elementary during a challenging year.

BY: ANDREW COLTON | Editor and Publisher | BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Parents of students at Whispering Pines Elementary School in West Boca Raton are demanding the removal of Principal Barbara Riemer after child sex abuse charges were filed against her husband Norman. Norman Riemer, according to multiple sources, worked as a substitute teacher in Whispering Pines after Barbara Riemer was made aware of the molestation allegations against her husband.

Palm Beach County School District officials did not immediately respond to requests for information made by BocaNewsNow.com about Norman Riemer’s substitute teaching history. He is a “science specialist” with the Palm Beach County School District. He was suspended on Wednesday after BocaNewsNow.com broke the story of his arrest. A school district official told BocaNewsNow.com that Norman Riemer is in the process of being terminated.

Norman Riemer

As we reported on Thursday, Norman Riemer is charged with five counts of molesting a child under the age of 12. The heavily redacted police report alleges that Norman Riemer allowed two children who were often in the Lake Worth home he shares with his wife touch his male private part on multiple occasions over the past year. He claimed they asked to touch it and that he obliged as part of a “science experiment.” Norman Riemer also allegedly — while naked — got on a bed with one of the young girls who was naked from the waist down. He rubbed her thigh, according to the police report, but did not penetrate. He allegedly admitted his illegal conduct to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Parents speaking with BocaNewsNow.com allege that Barbara Riemer, knowing that her husband was under investigation for molesting children, still permitted him to work in her elementary school in West Boca Raton. Parents say it is the latest questionable conduct by Riemer who BocaNewsNow.com has reported on multiple times over the past decade. Several parents protested outside the school on Lyons Road, between Yamato and Clint Moore, on Friday. Barbara Riemer, according to sources, has not been in the school since we broke the story of her husband’s arrest. Read our Barbara Riemer coverage here. Multiple teachers say they knew nothing about Norman Riemer’s arrest until we published our first report.

Norman Riemer remains held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail. He is ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18, or any employee of the Palm Beach County School District, as his case proceeds.
