BocaNewsNow.com has obtained mortgage documents showing that Barbara and husband Norman Riemer took out a home equity loan on their Lake Worth house several days before he was taken into custody.

It is believed the HELOC, valued at $128,130, is being used to pay Norman Riemer’s legal defense fees. The Riemers have retained high-power defense attorneys Michele Suskauer and Tyler Dimaio of the Suskauer Law Firm in West Palm Beach.

Norman Riemer, a teacher, is charged with five counts of molesting two young girls who frequented his home. The molestation allegedly took place over a year, but the alleged victims — according to police reports — didn’t come forward until March of 2025. Riemer was arrested on April 30th. He remains held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail. Read the police report here.

Since Norman Riemer’s arrest, there have been questions about what his wife, West Boca Raton Whispering Pines Elementary School Principal Barbara Riemer knew, when she knew it, and who she told. The Palm Beach County School District has been non-responsive to legally binding requests made by BocaNewsNow.com under Florida Statute 119 for Barbara and Norman’s communication to — and within — the school district regarding the allegations. The school district is required to comply with our request. Just days after BocaNewsNow.com broke the story of Norman Riemer’s arrest, Barbara Riemer announced a “leave of absence” through the end of the school year. The Palm Beach County School District then announced it has started a search for a new principal.

Riemer Loan
This home equity loan was executed days before Norman Riemer’s arrest. Loans traditionally take days, if not weeks, to process.

The Palm Beach County School District, after denying BocaNewsNow.com reporting that Norman Riemer was substituting in Whispering Pines Elementary in the days before his arrest, later stated that it’s possible he was there in a non-official capacity. Several sources told BocaNewsNow.com that Norman was seen in the school after the allegations were made but prior to his arrest. That raised questions about why Barbara Riemer — if she knew that her husband was accused of molesting young girls — would have permitted him to be near students in her elementary school. The Home Equity Loan suggests that Barbara Riemer knew of the investigation at least a week prior to his arrest. Loans routinely take days, if not weeks, to process.
