CRITICAL INJURIES FOR MAN STRUCK AT SW 18th AND MILITARY TRAIL IN BOCA RATON.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A bicyclist wearing no protective gear ran a red light at Military Trail and SW 18th Street early Thursday morning and was struck by the driver of Volkswagen Atlas. The bicyclist remains in critical condition at Delray Medical Center.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that Roger Vale, 70, of Merrimack Drive in Apex, North Carolina, violated traffic laws just before the crash reported at 5:54 a.m. Here’s the official narrative:
”The Volkswagen Atlas was southbound on Military Trail within the inside lane stopped at the the intersection of SW 18th Street on a red traffic signal. Vale, on the bicycle, was traveling westbound n SW 18th Street within the bicycle lane/outside lane approaching the intersection of Military Trail.
When the traffic signal turned green for southbound Military Trail, the Volkswagen began to enter the intersection at which time Vale on the bicycle ran the red light entering the intersection. The front of the bicycle crashed into the front driver side of the Volkswagen.
Roger Vale was transported to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries sustained from this crash. He was not wearing any safety gear.”
