BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A woman who allegedly told police she had to pick up Lenny Kravitz at the Boca Raton Airport is now facing a DUI charge after allegedly crashing her car into another car in the parking lot Mario’s Osteria (1400 West Glades Road) Saturday evening. Debra Hardister, 70, also told police she only had eggs in the morning but was drinking a dirty martini in the evening — just before the crash. We note that there’s no indication that Lenny Kravitz knows Debra Hardister, or flew to Boca Raton Saturday evening. He has not been seen at the Boca Airport seeking a ride. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the Boca Raton Police Report, written quite matter-of-factly by Arresting Officer Mookie Sanger:

>> On May 17, 2025, at approximately 1822 hours, I was dispatched to a traffic accident in the parking lot of Mario’s Osteria located at 1400 W Glades Road. The call notes indicated that a black Toyota Corolla and a black Lexus were involved. Upon arrival, I observed the driver of the Toyota standing outside his vehicle and the driver of the Lexus still in the driver seat of her vehicle with the engine running. I made contact with both parties and completed the driver exchange and accident investigation portion of the call. Following this, I transitioned into a criminal investigation based on observations indicating possible impairment by the driver of the black Lexus bearing Florida license plate DI83UQ. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was identified via Florida driver’s license as Debra Hardister.

Upon contact, I observed that Debra’s eyes were red, watery, and glassy. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from the driver area of her vehicle. Her speech was also notably slurred. Debra admitted to having consumed an alcoholic beverage at the bar. Multiple witnesses in the parking lot approached me and reported that Debra had been stumbling around and expressed concern that she would cause an accident if she attempted to drive due to her apparent level of intoxication. I also personally observed Debra stumble as she exited her vehicle and noted that she was unable to walk steadily.

I advised Debra that I was now conducting a criminal investigation to determine whether she was operating her vehicle while impaired. Debra was read her constitutional rights, which she stated she understood. Debra reported consuming one standard-sized dirty martini at approximately 1600 hours and said she stopped drinking around 1700 hours. Debra also stated she had not eaten all day, except for eggs in the morning. She mentioned she was scheduled to pick up Lenny Kravitz from the Boca Raton Airport.

(Debra allegedly had issues successfully completing a series of field sobriety exercises. The police report continues…)

It should be noted that, according to Debra’s Florida driver’s license, she is 70 years of age. However, throughout my interaction with her, she repeatedly stated that she was 74 years old. Based on the totality of the circumstances and all available information, I placed Debra under arrest for DUI with property damage. I observed Debra to be in actual physical control of a vehicle while impaired, to the extent that she had lost her normal faculties. Her impairment rendered her unfit to safely operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway, ultimately leading to a collision. Debra was charged in violation of Florida State Statute 316.193(3) (C) (1) – DUI with Property Damage. I transported her to BRPD’s BAT facility where Debra agreed to provide to two breath samples:.122 at 2131 hours and.122 at 2136 hours. <<

Debra, who lives in Pompano Beach, was released on $1000 bond. A court date is pending.
