TWO COUNTS REMAIN. Husband Of Ex-Whispering Pines Elementary Principal Still Faces Life In Prison If Convicted…

The decision to drop the charges was made Monday, during the standard 30-day window given to prosecutors to process allegations filed by law enforcement. However, sources familiar with the prosecution Tuesday afternoon told BocaNewsNow.com that charges are often consolidated as a case moves forward.
Riemer was charged in late April with three counts of “Lewd/Lascivious Behavior – molest victim less than 12 years of age by an offender 18 years of age or older,” and two counts of “lewd or lascivious molestation.” As of Tuesday, the only charges remaining are the two “lewd and lascivious molestation” charges — Florida Statute 800.04 (A)(B) — but they still carry a sentence of life in prison if Riemer is convicted.
“(5) LEWD OR LASCIVIOUS MOLESTATION.— (a) A person who intentionally touches in a lewd or lascivious manner the breasts, genitals, genital area, or buttocks, or the clothing covering them, of a person less than 16 years of age, or forces or entices a person under 16 years of age to so touch the perpetrator, commits lewd or lascivious molestation.
Florida Statute 800.04 (A) and (B), the charges remaining against Norman Riemer.
(b) An offender 18 years of age or older who commits lewd or lascivious molestation against a victim less than 12 years of age commits a life felony.”
Norman Riemer, 54, was arrested on April 28 after two young girls who are regularly in the home he shares with wife Barbara Riemer told an adult that Norman repeatedly had them touch his private part as part of a “science experiment.” A police report obtained and published by BocaNewsNow.com reveals that police say he admitted to the molestation.
In the days after Norman Riemer’s arrest, BocaNewsNow.com received multiple tips that he had been seen in Boca Raton’s Whispering Pines Elementary just before he was taken into custody. The Palm Beach County School District stated that Norman Riemer may have been in his wife’s school in an “unofficial” capacity. It is unclear when his wife, Principal Barbara Riemer, knew that her husband was under investigation for molesting elementary-aged children. She announced a “leave of absence” shortly after we asked whether she knew of the investigation when she let him in the school. The Palm Beach County School District then announced that Barbara Riemer would not return as principal.
BocaNewsNow.com learned days later that both Barbara Riemer and Norman Riemer obtained a Home Equity Loan valued at more than $100,000– potentially to pay for legal fees — days before Norman Riemer was taken into custody. Loans traditional require days, if not weeks, of review by a bank. That implies that both Riemers were aware of a pending need for significant funds.
Norman Riemer’s defense attorney, Tyler DiMaio, did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the reduction in the number of charges against his client.
