School ends this week for public school students in the Palm Beach County School District.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The 2024-2025 school year for students attending public school in the Palm Beach County School District ends on Friday. While some students may be scheduled for a half day depending on specific school and other schedules, the school district calendar officially calls for a full day of school on Friday, May 30. Teachers aren’t so lucky. They are expected to report on June 2nd.

Several area private schools, which operate on their own schedules, adopt a “northeast” calendar and continue into June. They also start much later in the year than the public school system.

Students in the Palm Beach County public school system return to school on August 11th, with teachers required to return to work on August 5th. Students at the private St. Andrew’s School return on August 18th, with American Heritage — consistently ranked as the leading private school in Florida — starting on August 25th.

We remind our readers who like to drive quickly: kids may be out and about all day on routes that have largely been kid-free during the school year. Police tend to increase speed enforcement patrols near playgounds, pools, camps, and other kid-friendly locations during the summer months.
