BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A mother and her daughter — both residents of Century Village Boca Raton — are facing criminal charges following an incident at Boca Raton Town Center Mall. Svetlana Garlick, 63, and Yulia Punko, 41, are charged with larceny and “fraud/swindle.” They both live in the Brighton G section of the retirement community.
According to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Garlick and Punko, allegedly both known by loss prevention officers at Macy’s Boca Raton Town Center, were seen entering the store on May 25th. Through video and in-person surveillance, the women were allegedly seen taking various items of clothing from the store, then entering a dressing room. When they left the dressing room, the clothing items were not left behind — and they were not paid for. The women, according to loss prevention officers, were stopped as they attempted to exit the store at the Glades Road doors. Police were called.
The police report states that Garlick and Punko were found with the following unpaid items: “Astr label women’s Helia Midi Dress ($148),” “Nike Unisex Club Logo Embroidered Cap ($26),” “Nina Parker Trendy Plus Size Printed Kimono ($99),” “DKNY Women’s Tie Front Cover-up Kaftan ($39.98),” “Astr Label Women’s Sonja Textured Asymmetric Vest ($118),” “”Bar 3 Women’s Wave Solids Tie-Front Bandeau One-Piece Swimsuit ($68).”
The total value of the allegedly stolen items: $498.98. Total bond after the women were arrested: $2,000 each — four times the value of the allegedly stolen items. The women were booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released after posting bond. A court date is pending.
