The Encore At Boca Raton Rehabilitation Center is facing a major lawsuit just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A new lawsuit just filed against The Encore at Boca Raton (7300 Del Prado Circle South) alleges that care there is so poor and that staffers are so mismanaged that a patient with a history of medical issues was permitted to deteriorate to the point that amputation was needed.

That patient, Andrew Quinn, is now suing The Encore At Boca Raton and its related parent companies after the allegedly poor care has left him permanently in a wheelchair, and without a foot. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the complaint filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. Here are key excerpts:

>> ANDREW W. QUINN, SR. was admitted as a resident to THE ENCORE with a medical history of hypertension, multiple sclerosis with left-sided weakness, chronic back pain from trauma to his lumbar spine, and neurogenic bladder needing a chronic Foley catheter. Prior to 2021, ANDREW had a history of pressure wounds, which had healed in an appropriate amount of time.

Subsequent to 2021, the pressure ulcers of Plaintiff’s left foot and ankle were cared for, but not healing. Defendant, THE ENCORE, was negligent in failing to investigate and determine why Plaintiff’s pressure ulcers of the left foot and ankle were not healing. The amount of protein or specific nutrition that ANDREW was receiving was never properly documented by Defendant THE ENCORE. In addition to the pressure of the left foot and ankle ulcers and poor nutrition, ANDREW’S wounds were not healing due to arterial insufficiency.

Plaintiff’s arterial insufficiency was never properly addressed by Defendant THE ENCORE, nor was an angioplasty to improve blood flow ever recommended, prescribed, or administered. This failure fell below the required standard of care for patients such as the Plaintiff. As a result of the negligent care that ANDREW received at THE ENCORE, he developed gangrene of the left leg and foot. Defendant, THE ENCORE’S conduct and actions fell below the standard of care and allowed the gangrene to spread well past Plaintiff’s left foot and ankle. Plaintiff was transferred to Boca Raton Regional Hospital on June 1, 2023. At that time, Plaintiff’s gangrene had spread up his left leg, past his left foot and ankle.

On June 1, 2023, Plaintiff underwent an amputation above his left knee that was performed at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. As a result of the above knee amputation, Plaintiff has been unable to manage or utilize a prosthetic limb and, as a direct result, will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. <<

The suit names The Encore at Boca Raton Rehabilitation And Nursing Center LLC, Florida Ventures B LLC; Sovereign Healthcare of Boynton Beach, LLC d/b/a Boynton Beach Rehabilitation Center, and Southern Healthcare Management, LLC as defendants. 1. Encore killed my sister four years ago through neglect. I asked the doctor what she was being treated for and he “had to check her chart” after she was quarantined there during covid. I asked if I should call the family, since she seemed comatose. He said no, it wasn’t that serious. She died that night!!!!!! Do NOT use this horrible facility.
