DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A disabled combat Marine who left his unlocked BMW in the driveway of his Seven Bridges home to bring his dog inside Tuesday night is now the victim of a brazen car theft captured on a Ring camera. We are publishing the video, below. The thugs — seen casing and stealing the car — didn’t just take the BMW, but the gun inside. They also detached the BMW tracker, and threw out an Apple AirTag.

The victim, who lives on Pavilion Way, acknowledges leaving the car unlocked and a key inside for a few minutes while he brought his dog in the house after playing on a hot night. The victim tells BocaNewsNow.com that he’s astonished at just how easily it seems the thugs got into the gated Seven Bridges community that employs roving security. The thieves were driving a Mercedes S Class vehicle — a vehicle that blends well in a community of million dollar homes.

Seven Bridges has had major car theft and burglary problems over the decade or so of its existence after being built by GL Homes, but those problems have largely diminished over the past 24-months as the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was permitted to issue moving violations in the private community. The increased police presence seemingly made Seven Bridges less attractive as a target. But lately, Deputies have rarely been seen issuing tickets in Seven Bridges, possibly making it easier for car thieves to move in and out quickly.

It’s not just Seven Bridges dealing with car thieves. Boca Bridges, Lotus, The Bridges, and other communities on Lyons Road north of Clint Moore and South of Atlantic Avenue tend to be popular with what are believed to be professional thieves. Police frequently launch “WTF” campaigns, or “Where’s The Fob?” — reminding people not to leave key fobs in their unlocked cars. Professionals look for late model cars with windows extended — often signaling that a key is inside.

Homes have also been burglarized in the area after apparently being cased. Some burglaries are so brazen that sliding glass doors are shattered and alarms deactivated or circumvented, as professionals move in and out in just minutes. Read our previous coverage here.

  1. It’s always nice to see the future doctors, scientists and potential presidents at work. Incredible how 13% of a population can be so talented. I doubt this will get through the censors but worth a try

  2. Who the heck leaves wireless key fobs in cars these days ?

It should be in your pocket. Always.

Besides, if you fail to lock most modern cars using the key fob, some of your car’s electrical systems are still left energized. And over time this drains the battery, and decreases its lifespan in SoFla wicked heat. #LockItUp
