BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Gross and disgusting. Those are two words that may come to mind when reading the health inspector’s report for La Luna Italian Restuarant and Bar at 5030 Champion Boulevard in Boca Raton. The restaurant was ordered closed on June 4th after two high priority violations were found involving rodent and roach activity. It was allowed to reopen the following day.

Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, the following is the official log entry from the health inspector reporting to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. We do not edit these entries:

High Priority – Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed 1 live roach on floor in front of tall reach in freezer near salad prep cooler. **Warning**

High Priority – Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Observed approximately 22 rodent droppings on cans in dry storage area. Observed approximately 8 rodent droppings on floor in dry storage area away from kitchen. Observed approximately 4 rodent droppings on electrical panel in dry storage area away from kitchen **Warning**

Basic – Hood filters soiled with grease and food debris. **Warning**

La Luna Italian Bistro and Bar was reinspected on June 5th and no violations were found. The restaurant was permitted to reopen at that time. We note that three “high priority” and two “intermediate” violations were logged for the restaurant during its February 6, 2025 inspection, but the restaurant was not ordered to close following that review.

  1. Why are these disgusting places allowed to open the very next day? Seems this is no punishment, and no incentive to do the right thing. I bet if you came back to these places within 2 days, problems be back

  2. No one ever knows what is in the kitchen area. Customers don’t ever go to the kitchens of these places. I don’t go to many restaurants anymore after reading about these places. I cant believe these nasty places are allowed to clean up, and reopen.
