BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman celebrating her 48th birthday was arrested Thursday and charged with DUI by the Delray Beach Police Department. Accoridng to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Melyssa Lino of the 7900 block of Mandarin Drive in Boca Raton has been convicted twice of DUI. Public records suggest she’s also known as Melyssa Horta.

The police report documents what the arresting officer alleges took place in the early hours of June 12th:

“I was traveling northbound on NE 6th Ave from E Atlantic Ave when I in front of me. observed a red Tesla in front of me. The Tesla braked several times despite there being no traffic an front of or on either side of it. Both Tesla and I stopped at the red trafffc control signal at the intersection of Ne 2nd St and NE 6th Ave. When the traffic light turned green, the Tesla accelerated rapidly, then began to brake abruptly. As we approached NE 4th St, the Tesla was in the rightmost lane and suddenly made an evasive left turn into the left turn lane. Based on the observed actions, I was concerned for the safety of the driver and other road users, and I decided to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle to conduct a welfare check.

The vehicle pulled over in the 500 block of NE 4th St. I made contact with a white female driver and a white male passenger. The driver was identified as Melyssa Lino by her Florida driver’s license. While speaking with Lino, I observed that she had red, glossy eyes, exhibited slurred speech, and I detected the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. I asked Lino where she was headed, and she had difficulty recalling the name of her hotel. Lino explained that it was her birthday and that she had been celebrating. I asked Lino if she had any medical conditions, and she advised that she did not. I asked Lino to step out of the vehicle. As I walked her to the rear of the vehicle, I detected an unknown alcohol odor emanating from her breath. I asked Lino if she had been drinking today and she admitted she had two glasses of wine. It should be known that first Lino advised she had just had the two glasses of wine. But later, she advised that she had it at 10 pm. While asking Lino questions, she was very unstable. I asked Lino on scale of 1-10 with 1 being sober and 10 being very drunk how drunk she was. Lino at first replied with 3 but changed her answer to 2.

During the conversation with Lino, she kept repeating herself. I asked Lino if she would like to conduct roadside tasks to dispel my suspicion that she had been operating under the influence and she agreed. It should be known during the roadside task, Lino advised, “She was on a different level.”

After completing the roadside task, Lino was placed under arrest and transported to the Palm Beach County Breath Alcohol Testing Facility. We arrived at the BAT facility at 03:06 am and conducted a 20-minute observation. Lino was asked to provide a breath sample pursuant to Florida State Statues for the purpose of determining its alcohol content. Lino agreed and provided two breath samples resulting in an initial blow of .111 and a final blow of .115. I conducted a records check on Lino using DAVID, and it was discovered that she has been convicted of DUI twice. The first conviction was on March 10, 2008, with citation number 2447XDJ, and she was adjudicated guilty on July 3, 2008. The second conviction occurred on December 7, 2013, with citation number 1926XEZ, and she was adjudicated guilty on August 27, 2014. Based on the above stated facts there is probable cause to charge Melyssa Lino with DUI in violation of FSS 316.193 (1) (C).”

Melyssa Lino was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and released several hours later on $1,000 bond. A court date is pending.
