DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A person was struck and killed by a Tri-Rail train in Delray Beach Monday morning. It happened around 9:50 a.m. in the area of SW 10th Street and South Congress. The tracks are just to the east of that location.

Delray Beach Police responded to the scene and confirmed the death. Delray Beach Fire Rescue arrived just minutes later. There was nothing that could be done to save the person who was killed.

It was not immediately clear if the person was walking on the tracks or was in a vehicle. It’s also unclear if this was accidental or if the person killed was committing what’s referred to as “suicide by train.” All Tri-Rail traffic in the area has stopped. All trains moving through Delray Beach will be delayed.

Expect traffic delays in the area for the next few hours.
