“Peace In The Hood” Brings Gun Violence.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Three women were shot Saturday at what Boynton Beach Police are calling an “unsanctioned” peace event in Sara Sims Park. Cops are now seeking tips from anyone who knows anything about the shooter or shooters. BBPD issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com on Monday:
>> Boynton Beach Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired into a crowd shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at Sara Sims Park. Upon arrival, BBPD Officers found one female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the femur. Shortly after, BBPD dispatch received reports that two additional female victims were self-transported to local hospitals. One victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and the other suffered from a gunshot wound to the hip.
BBPD Officers determined that the shooting occurred during an unsanctioned event advertised as “Peace in the Hood”. The event had nearly 500 attendees. The initial investigation shows that at approximately 8:04 p.m. multiple rival gang members began shooting at each other while attendees, including numerous children, were in the crossfire.
During the shooting, several vehicles both occupied and unoccupied were struck. Additional victims sustained minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals or on-scene by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue. All victims are expected to make a full recovery.
BBPD Detectives have multiple persons of interest. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Steele by emailing SteeleS@bbfl.us or by calling 561-742-6148. The investigation is ongoing. <<
UPDATE: Boynton Beach Police issued this update to BocaNewsNow.com Monday afternoon: “On June 17, 2025, the organizer of “Peace in the Hood” submitted a Special Events Application to the City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department to host an event titled “Stop Violence Awareness” for approximately 20 attendees at Sara Sims Park on July 5, 2025.
On June 24, 2025, the Recreation and Parks Department notified the event organizer that their event permit had been denied via email. A refund was initiated the same day, which the organizer acknowledged via email”

GANGS should be the focus of both Law Enforcement and ICE…NOT DACA, VISA HOLDERS, REFUGEES, ASSYLUM CANDIDATES, STUDENTS, OR PROTESTERS, NOT GRANDMAS, CHILDREN OR OTHERWISE DECENT PEOPLE. VOTE ACCORDINGLY. The Violence here in So. Florida IS WORSE than most Major Metropolitan Cities.
I’m surprised that there are only 2 gangs in Boynton and if I was a business owner or real estate owner, I’d be up in arms. The police should contact the head honchos of those gangs and invite them to a “peace” meeting. Gangs are not good for any municipality. And I’m certain the police are aware of their whereabouts and leaders and am surprised there wasn’t any police presence at that event.
Businesses are not going to be anxious to pay high rents in the new downtown complex if news like this is frequent.
