BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Attention artists: the City of Boynton Beach would love you to help out turn boring and ugly “traffic control boxes” into exciting works of art. The City of Boynton Beach shared this announcement with BocaNewsNow.com:
>> The City of Boynton Beach is turning everyday infrastructure into unexpected art. Through a bold new public art initiative, local artists are invited to transform the city’s traffic control boxes into vibrant works of creativity that reflect the soul, style and story of Boynton Beach.
Design themes include We Are Boynton, Abstract Tropical Nature and Bright Beach Vibes. Each is a reflection of the city’s coastal charm and cultural flair. As part of the city’s Art in Public Places program, selected artwork will be professionally printed and installed on 35 traffic control boxes at high-visibility intersections.

The opportunity is open to artists of all ages and experience levels. Artists whose designs are selected will receive a $500 honorarium per artwork, plus the unique opportunity to have their work viewed by thousands of people daily as part of Boynton Beach’s evolving urban landscape.
The deadline to apply is Monday, September 1. Artists must submit a high-resolution landscape PDF (300 DPI minimum), complete the online form and select up to three preferred box locations.
“This initiative is about more than beautification,” Planning & Development Director Amanda Radigan said. “It’s a visual celebration of who we are as a community and a way for artists to be seen, valued and remembered in the city they help shape.”
By turning blank utility boxes into story-filled art installations, the city is fostering civic pride, increasing public engagement and inviting residents and visitors alike to experience Boynton Beach through a new creative lens.
