And it’s a system used by the City of Delray Beach, but open to everyone in our region. The CodeRED Alert system is an opt-in alert system that relays vital weather and emergency information via text and phone call.

“Delray Beach has utilized the CodeRed system since 2017 for emergency messaging to residents and visitors,” said City of Delray Beach Police Spokesperson Ted White. “Anyone that registers through our link can choose how and which types of alerts they want to receive.”

The system is free and, in months of tests by BocaNewsNow.com, as flawless as it is informative. Many of the weather alerts that our newsroom receives directly from the National Weather Service and forecasting firms are transmitted by the City of Delray Beach within seconds of the forecast being issued — making CodeRED one of the fastest alert systems around. The City of Delray Beach also uses the system to alert when there are major road closures or what’s known as “police activity” that may affect you.

“Residents can sign up for an account for free and choose whether to receive texts, phone calls, or emails,” said White. “Alerts sent out through CodeRED can be for life-threatening events or for critical public notifications such as but not limited to boil-water notices, utility outages and/or road closures.”

CodeRED is a service private company “OnSolve” that primarily provides the technology used for the City of Delray Beach to send information as needed. The City of Delray Beach budgets $24,000 a year for the service — but it only works for people who sign up. It doesn’t matter where you live — what does matter is that you take the time to provide your information and select the alerts you need. Even residents of nearby Boca Raton and Boynton Beach should consider signing up for Delray’s alert system which often provides regional information that is important to everyone, regardless of whether you’re in Delray Beach or near Delray Beach.

Alert Systems In Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Palm Beach County.

The City of Delray Beach isn’t the only municipality with an alert system. Boca Raton offers its own alert system which can be accessed here. While Boca Raton’s system does not provide weather alerts, it does provide information considered vital by police dispatchers on duty. The City of Boynton Beach utilizes “NotifyMe” which can be accessed here. And Palm Beach County offers countywide alerts through its emergency management alert system — AlertPBC — which you can sign up for here. Unlike in the Texas flooding situation where dispatchers reportedly needed multiple approvals before sending an alert, BocaNewsNow.com has learned that on-duty dispatch teams in many South Florida municipalities do have the authority to issue emergency alerts as needed. BocaNewsNow.com strongly encourage you to sign up for an official alert system today.
