VICTIM IDENTIFIED AS RICHARD LEWIS, 69, OF BOCA GOLF AND TENNIS CLUB.

UPDATE 4:23 p.m. with the official statement from Boca Raton Police: “The Boca Raton Police Services Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle crash, which occurred at the intersection of Congress Avenue and W Yamato Road at 8:30 this morning. The crash involved a Ford F-150 that was traveling west in the left center lane of W Yamato Road and a Porsche 914 that was traveling eastbound on W. Yamato. The vehicles collided as the Porsche attempted to make a left turn.
The driver of the Porsche, 69-year-old Richard Lewis (Boca Raton, FL), was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Carlos Duenas (Tamarac, FL), sustained minor injuries. UPDATE 1:37 p.m. — Multiple witnesses say the deceased is the driver of the Porsche. We are not publishing the name until we receive confirmation that next of kin has been notified.

According to information provided to BocaNewsNow.com, a black truck and a Porsche are involved in the accident. It was not immediately clear in which vehicle someone died.

While the traffic situation is fluid, officials tell us that drivers can go east on Yamato, but can not go west. Drivers can also not go north on Congress and can not make a left to turn to go west on Yamato from Technology Way. Best bet: avoid the area.
