BocaNewsNow.com obtained the arrest report written by an officer with the West Palm Beach police department:
”On Thursday, August 7th, 2025, at approximately 1147 hours, I responded to 4200 North Flagler Avenue (Rybovich Marina) In reference to a dead animal. Upon arrival, I made contact with Elaine Yen, 60. Yen was observed to be in a state of distress and crying. She advised that her dog (Nina Hope, a 6-year-old Chihuahua) had passed away in her vehicle (2018 Gray Mazda 6 bearing FL Tag: LWZR57). In a post-Miranda statement, she advised the following:

She arrived at the marina around 1020 hours for a meeting on a yacht. Upon arrival, she took her dog out for a walk. She then brought her dog back into her vehicle. She advised she then brought that she left the vehicle running and the AC on for the dog. She stated that the meeting was supposed to be about 15-20 minutes, but ran for about an hour. When she arrived back at the vehicle, it was still running, but the interior of the vehicle felt very bot. Yen advised that the AC was still blowing, but it was blowing out hot air. she then looked to the passenger seat where the dog was, and observed that the dog was not breathing.
She then took the dog out of the car and gave it CPR. A marina employee was nearby and assisted in giving CPR to the dog as well. Yen was then placed in handcuffs that were checked for proper fitting and double locked. While in handcuffs, Yen began to feel faint. I assisted Yen to the floor and placed her in the recovery position. Medics were then called to provide medical assistance to Yen.
She declined needing to be transported to a hospital. I also made contact with (the person Yen met with). He advised that he is a co-worker of Yen and was with her for the meeting. He advised that they were in the meeting for approximately one (1) hour. When they came back, the dog was deceased.”
Yen lives in the 12200 block of SW 7th Street in Pembroke Pines, according to police. A court date is pending.

She should not have been released from jail, she deserved no bond!! When she appears in court I pray the judge gives her jail time!
Beyond sad. No animal or child should be left in an unattended car, ever.
This is such a double tragedy. I want to cry for both, really. I don’t believe that she was cruel to her dog on purpose. She has failed to realize that she should have checked on her fur baby. Is this one of the signs of mental decline due to age?
