BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Monday is reminding motorists that school is now back in session. Anyone driving near a school zone is being encouraged by law enforcement to remember the following Florida laws:

>> A friendly reminder from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office: When making a right or left turn make sure the path is clear of pedestrians.

>> Do not obstruct the crosswalk. Failure to do so may result in a fine of between $116.00 or $166.00 depending on the circumstances.

>> Be mindful of your speed. If you are caught traveling over the 20 mile per hour limit through a school zone you could face fines in excess of $600.00.

>> Before making a right turn on a red light, come to a complete stop and check for oncoming traffic or pedestrians. Give yourself extra travel time when commuting during school drop off and pick up times.
