Boca Police Target Calusa Elementary Car Line, Parents Applaud

Car Line Cutters. Speeders.

Some parents are learning a lesson most elementary school kids know: you need to wait your turn and you can’t speed in a school zone. Boca PD was ticketing Thursday morning as parents cheered.

UPDATE at 9:20 a.m. — Boca PD says nearly 200 citations have been issued in school zones since public school started last week.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton Police are apparently targeting bad drivers at Calusa Elementary School (2051 Clint Moore Road) Thursday morning, issuing several tickets while — intentionally or not — shaming speeders and line-cutters in front of others who are following the law.

Several parents reaching out to BocaNewsNow.com applauded the action by Boca cops, saying something has to be done about not just speeders, but other parents who believe they are entitled to cut the carline to get their children into school before other parents. Just like speeding in a school zone, cutting a carline is a big no no. Sources say even school officials asked Boca Police to increase enforcement after a “challenging” first week of school.

We are waiting for official numbers from Boca Raton Police, but parents reaching out to BocaNewsNow.com say “several” speeders and line cutters were ticketed Thursday.

“It seems to take just seconds for a police officer who finished writing one ticket to see another violation and pull over another parent,” said one tipster. “This is great. Parents need to learn that they are not special. Even little kids know that you have to wait in line until it’s your turn.”

As one tipster shared, Calusa Elementary School parents are considered to be some of the most “aggressively self-proclaimed elite” parents in Boca Raton.

  1. This is why they make school busses. Stop catering to 7 years olds and throw them on a big bus with all their friends and then there is no ridiculous traffic. Boca residents seem to have all the money but none of the sense

  2. Charles, that’s a bit naive. Many children aren’t actually in the zone for school bus service, which is why you see so many parents driving. The traffic issue isn’t about catering—it’s about district zoning and eligibility
