DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A crash between a dirt bike and car left one person dead in Deerfield Beach. Police say it happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 23. That’s when Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a traffic crash involving a car and a dirt bike at 100 N. Powerline Rd. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2023 Yamaha YZ450F dirt bike, Anthony Knight, was traveling southbound within the right thru lane of North Powerline Road approaching Hillsboro Boulevard. At that time, the driver of a 2018 Hyundai Tucson, Carlos Mooza, was traveling northbound on North Powerline Road preparing to make a left turn into a shopping plaza near the 100 block.
As the driver of the Hyundai proceeded to make the left turn across the southbound lanes, the Yamaha struck the passenger side of the Hyundai. The driver of the Yamaha, Knight, was ejected off the dirt bike and came to rest on the sidewalk on the west side of the road. Paramedics transported Knight to Broward Health North where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Hyundai remained on scene.
According to detectives, excessive speed by the dirt bike driver is considered a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.”

Illegal dirt bikes on the roads are a menace. The Ebikes are becoming a problem as well due to their speed and the age of the riders. Extra vigilance is needed on the roads especially with season coming up
